A few of my favorite things....

Some things I just don't want to forget about Abby:
1. She loves the Melissa and Doug train Steve got her for Christmas.  She always pulls it out, takes the blocks off the pegs, and then works to put them back on.  When one is particularly hard, she works till it is on, and then leaves the toy to take a break.  I think that is hilarious!  She leaves when she is ahead and comes back to the rest of the blocks later.
2. She figured out that if she shakes the hammer, it makes noise!  Too cute!
3. She wakes up and says, "mamamama"
4. She cuddles when she is sick and just wants to be held.
5. She tries to put on her shoes, socks, and hair clips all by herself.
6. She talks on the "phone" (i.e. remote, lego, slipper, shoe, etc.)
7. She says: duck, quack, moo, meow, cat, Sam - I am sure there are more, but these are what I am thinking now.
8. Her favorite song is Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
9. Whenever she hears any kind of music, she dances.
10. She can point to her head, eyes, ears, and mouth when asked
11. When Abby wakes up from a nap, I pick her up, she gives me her pacifier to "suck" (I just pretend) and then she asks for it back, I give it to her, and she throws it in her crib.  It is like she is sharing her most prized possession with me, but she knows it belongs in her crib.
12. She learned to blow on food and now blows on everything :)

A good day....

Today started out normal....
Wake up
Errands
PT

But, it just kept getting better and better!
1. I found Abby shoes that fit her and her brace!  For only $10!
2. Daddy came home early from working
3. We went for a walk around Duck Pond (in our backyard) and saw frogs, turtles, and lots of fish. We even fed the fish.
4. We saw a HUGE snapping turtle come and eat the food we put out in our backyard.  I am not joking about this turtle being huge...Like he would eat my hand off.
5. We found a painted turtle's home, right in our backyard.
6. We worked on sanding and priming corn hole
7. Abby sings "Row Row" from "Row row row your boat"  She got it from her cousins.  She learns SO MUCH from them.
8. I was sitting on the floor and all of a sudden, Abby walked past me pushing her shopping cart like it was no big deal.
and....
A Duck Pond fish is now in our fish tank.

I love life right now.  The end.

She WALKS!

I thought it would never happen....Really, I am not joking about that.  We have been in PT since birth working to get to this point.

This weekend Abby took a step at grandma and grandpas.  Today at PT, she took maybe 2-3 steps max (falling on the third step).

Tonight, Amber was over and we were playing with bubbles in the kitchen.  Abby took 4 steps from me to Amber!  Then, she continued to take steps throughout the night.  Daddy even got it on video!  Our max was 7!

I know we have a long way to go before I can walk to the mailbox holding Abby's hand, but we are getting there!

(And...She is supposed to get her SMO's (brace for her foot) tomorrow....Looks like that isn't going to be the thing that makes her walk...we just had to wait it out for her to do it on her own)

Stairs

They are her favorite...

15 months

Well, Little Nugget, you are not so little anymore!  We love you more and more each day that goes by.

Some little tidbits about you:

  • Sleeping is pretty good.  Right now you are sleeping, and have been since 7:30 pm, that's 13 hours.  You did wake up and cry (more like a whimper) at 6:30, but I said to myself, I am going to give her 10 minutes - it took you 8 and you fell back asleep.
  • You still take two naps, but I think today is going to be a 1 nap day, seeing as though your first nap should start in 28 minutes and you are not up yet.
  • PT is going OK.  You still aren't walking...Oh dear Abby.  We are finally getting your SMO's (shoe inserts) next week.  Hopefully that will help!  You do like Alison though, and whenever she comes to get us in the waiting room you light up with a big smile!   -----   As in true mom fashion, I started this blog 2 days ago and am just now finishing it!  We took steps yesterday AND today!  Maybe you will walk!
  • Yesterday at PT we were in the hallway walking with the shopping cart and another PT walked by.  You said, "Hey" clear as could be.  We all started cracking up!
  • You are an eating champ, maybe you can't walk because you are such a big girl!
  • However, I think you are just holding out on us.  The other day, you climbed on top of your lego box, to a table and onto the TV stand to get the remote.  So, really, if you can climb that high, I am pretty sure if you wanted to, you would walk.
  • The stairs are still your favorite.
  • We got you a crib!  I know, 14.5 months in a pack and play, but we finally got you a crib.
  • Legos are your favorite toy and daddy does an awesome job of making towers for you.
  • You say and sign all sorts of words.  We had a speech evaluation and you passed with flying colors.
  • Dad took you to Grandma and Grandpa's for a night away for mommy.  I LOVED my time alone, but by hour 21 I was dying for you and daddy to come home.
  • You have curls in your hair.
Abby, you are SO precious!  I can't even begin to describe how much I love you.

Here are some pictures from our photo shoot.  Yes, she is playing with an empty medicine container...Shame on me, I know.
