LG

Lucy Gracie Grace.

Oh girl, you are precious.

My favorite time is in the morning.  You usually wake up and just make a lot of noise and want me to come in to get you.  You aren't crying, but I can tell you want me to come in.

The minute you see the light from the hallway, you stop making noise, look over, and give me the biggest smile ever.  I LOVE it.

You are chewing on your hands like crazy and always drooling.  If we don't have a bib on, your outfit is a disaster.  We go through at least two bibs a day.

You are rolling over, front to back and back to front.  It is fun to see you more mobile these days.  I put you on the floor under your play mat and when I return to see you, you are usually on the carpet moving away from where I put you.

You have a pretty good routine:
7:00 wake up and eat
9:00 nap
10:30 wake up and eat
(really, we are usually at villa during this morning routine)
12:30 eat again
1:00 nap again till 3:30-4:00
Wake up, eat, play, eat again
6:00-7:00 bed time.

You have recently been waking up about every 4 hours (at night) to eat.  You wake up, eat, and go right back to bed.  I am not thrilled about waking up twice at night, that makes me tired.  But, I really do think you need to eat...You are only five months old.

You are just over 14 pounds.  You have cute little rolls on your arms and legs and are wearing size 6-9 month clothes.  You have a little hair on your head and it is pretty light brown, maybe blonde.  Your eyes are a beautiful blue, just like your sisters.

Our little Abigail.

She is so sweet.

Recently she has been asking to hear the "Abigail Jesus Loves You" song.  When she was born Jen's mom bought her a CD that sings Bible songs and puts her name in the song.  She loves that CD now and will sing along with it.

She prays for our meals and prays before bed.  For our meals, sometimes it is just "Jesus, thank you for the food. Amen" So matter of fact. But it is adorable.  When she prays before bed she always thanks Jesus for the friends and family we saw that day.  She also usually remembers fun activities from the day and thanks Jesus for that.

She has started experimenting with her body.  She tries to do somersaults all the time, walks on her heels, and wants to climb on everything.  She climbs up on the potty by herself, washes her hands by herself, wants to wash herself when taking a bath, puts on her clothes.  She is becoming so independent.

She calls Lucy's head "delicate" and knows she can't touch it.  So sweet.

She potty trained herself.

She is always playing with babies...putting their diapers on, feeding them, giving them time outs and spankings (guess you can see what we have been working on), they sit on the potty, she puts them to bed.  It is so cute to see her be a little mother to her babies.  She hasn't named them yet, just wants them to be called "baby."

When she watches shows she is starting to interact. When they ask questions, tell you do to something, ask to find a color, she does it.  It is fun to see her respond to those things.

She LOVES her pacifier.  I don't know what we are going to do when we don't have it anymore....Maybe when she is three...I'm just stalling, I know.  She only has it at bedtime, but LOVES it so much.

She helps with laundry and puts all her stuff away in the correct drawers.

She plays independently.

She loves picking up flowers, rocks, pinecones, really anything outside.  If I kept all of the random outside stuff she has given me, I am sure it would fill up a laundry basket....

She loves stroller rides when I go running with Christine.  She gets her special treat (bagel) and her water and sometimes even falls asleep while running, I am excited for when she can ride her bike next to me when I run!

This time is so fun with her.  She is growing up so fast and I want to embrace every second of this season.

If you ask the Lord for wisdom, he will give it to you liberally.

Right now I am listening to a sermon my mom preached at her church.  I love it that she hears from the Lord...

She said this in her message, "If you ask the Lord for wisdom, He will give it to you liberally."

This summer I started a tutoring job for a first grade boy who was behind in reading.

For some reason I was nervous....So scared...I think I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do.  I did teach first grade, right?  I did teach kids how to read, right?  I was good at it, right?

I was having doubts...I thought I lost it all in the last two years since I wasn't practicing.

I prayed, I prayed about this a lot.  I even asked Steve to pray for me...I kind of freaked out about it.

Tutoring session one happened and it went fine...I started to feel like I remembered what I was doing.

I prayed more.

Session two came...It all came back, I knew what I was doing.  Thank you LORD for answering my prayer!  Thank you for this talent and knowledge you have given me.

The rest of the sessions were great, I was in a routine, I knew what to do, I knew where to take this little guy, we had goals, it all was going so well.

I continued to pray.  I wanted this guy to read and read well.  I LOVE teaching kids how to read, it became something I thought of all the time.  I loved preparing for the sessions. I love seeing the light turn on for him.

I kept praying.

Then, we took a break because I went to Michigan.  I gave him stuff to work on while we I was gone to keep him on track.

He started school and was lucky enough to have the same teacher he had last year....She tested him (as they do at the beginning of every year) -  when he left kindergarten he was below in all areas...Now, in first grade, he was scoring advanced!  She was blown away by his progress!  His parents are thrilled and he is confident.

It all goes back to this - If you ask the Lord for wisdom, He will give it to you liberally.  I was worried. I didn't know if I could still do what I "used" to do.  The Lord has given me a gift and I am able to use it.  Thank you Lord for giving me wisdom...and giving me wisdom liberally!

Grammy and Pa's house!

Week two (and a little bit of time after Alaska) were spent at Grammy and Pa's house.  It was so fun!

One of the highlights is Pa's swing....This swing is AWESOME, the rope is 30 feet high!  This swing is no joke and one of Abby's favorite things to do at their house!

Bubbles, another favorite, Grammy always has a huge stash!

Abby learned about "under doggies" Doing an under doggie on this swing is a workout!  You have to run so far!

Grammy's beautiful garden.

We got to go to the splash park where Abby learned how to walk.  It is so fun to revisit these places from when we lived in Michigan!

And we got matching outfit pictures!  Grammy is so great at finding outfits for the girls that match!

Another highlight was picking apples!  They have a crab apple tree in their yard and Abby went out with Pa and picked apples...then they put the apples in the woods in the backyard for the deer to eat.  We checked the next day and some of the apples were gone!  That means that the deer ate some - which is what we told Abby.  She asked about feeding the "deers" multiple times, every single day..She still asks about feeding the "deers"

more bubbles!

She cracks me up.

And to finish up our trip to Michigan we got to spend time with Andy and Brittany.  We miss them so much.  We got to celebrate birthdays and were spoiled by Grammy and Pa.  We even had party hats and ice cream!

Finishing our trip at Grammy and Pa's was so fun.  It was so hard to leave Michigan, we love it there!

Up North

Week one of our vacation to Michigan was spent in Traverse City....Oh man.  That place is heave on earth.

Our aunties are the best.

My parents made a sandbox this year and it was one of the highlights of the trip!

Cuddling with LG on the hammock.

It was so hot that week.  We were in the lake every single day....and when we weren't in the lake we were in the little pool...in our clothes!

Again, our aunties are the best!

Running through the super cold sprinkler!!!

LG got to go in the swing!

Abby's a little critter catcher...Her favorite part of the day was going to catch crayfish with Bubba.
She was able to pull the trap up all by herself!
This could be a picture on the front of a card!

 Holding my first fish!
 And, my first crayfish!
Most days wore this little on out.
 Catching minnows with Bubba.

 naked baby!

Steve and I got to go fishing with bubba...This is one of my absolute favorite things to do.  My dad and Steve were in his car towing the boat and I was following in our car (we did that so we could make it back to the house to relieve my mom of kid duty a little faster...She is so awesome in taking care of the kids when my dad takes everyone fishing.)

Following the boat was so exciting.  I can't really describe what I feel when I am ready to get in my dad's boat.  I LOVE it.

And, of course, with Captain Jim Big Fish...You always catch fish!

(I am terrible at holding fish...I didn't even hold it out so you could see it!)

(Abby wasn't so sure about the fish)

Being up north was a great way to start our vacation to Michigan!
