Our House

Working on this house has been....something.  We bought the house only seeing it through face time.  The first time Carey saw the house in person was the final walk through a couple hours before closing and Steve didn't see the house until about a month AFTER we closed.  The draw of this house was the location...four houses down from family.

When we bought it, it had no flooring (all sub floors) and somewhat of a kitchen.  We gutted whatever we could find and started over.

Here is the kitchen and where the stairs used to be.  Carey flew into Michigan for the closing and right after the closing we went to work ripping out the kitchen cabinets and tile floor.

This fireplace was something we thought,  "no we will just keep it..."  Well, when Steve came to see the house (about a month after we bought it), he started ripping the fireplace.

We LOVE our new fireplace surround!

The upstairs had three bathrooms and one bathroom.  After doing some planning with Paul (Steve's Dad) we changed the master bedroom closet to a bathroom.  Here is a picture of the old bathroom upstairs, and then a picture of the empty space where the two new bathrooms would go:

Here are the new bathrooms, they are just what we wanted:

Here are some panorama's of the main level.  Huge things on this level were changing the double door entrance to a single door, moving the stairs to form an "L" shape instead of a "U" shape, ripping the fireplace out and redoing the stone, completely gutting the kitchen and changing a full bathroom to a powder room/laundry room.

Thanks for visiting the blog, if you are in Michigan we would love for your to REALLY visit, we love having company!
