DC

Our mini vaca to DC with the Klenke's!

Abby was a super-star-champ-wonderful kid...She barely cried.  She slept good and was awesome in the backpack.  I love my kid.

We had lots of fun (see pictures below) and got to see the new DC stuff....

 wedding soon!!  woot woot!
 Our roots....
 trying to make an "m"
 "Yep, I was born here!"
 The Klenke's getting CRAZY

We are the only state that you can use a hand to tell where you are from...Other states try, but it doesn't work....
We have never seen this before.  The AF memorial.  (I only saw it from a distance, it was quite a walk, but the guys went).  The memorial represents the thunderbirds.  Usually when they are in formation or doing a fly over they are in a set of four.  They have three fly up and one flies off to the side to represent some of the planes not coming home.  They tried to symbolize this with the memorial. They also made the memorial because the AF doesn't have a "place" to go to because their fighting is all in the air.  A pretty great memorial if you ask me....
 More of the crazy ones..
 Tomb of the unknown soldier
Washington Monument at sunset...Steve is awesome at capturing the moment

 Night in DC. So beautiful.

We went to the Newseum...which was an awesome experience!
This is the radio tower from the top of one of the twin towers.  They had a great memorial here for the journalists who covered 9-11

it was a bit windy. But look, no jackets!
Obama wasn't home.  He was at his daughter's basketball game.

 Tired nugget of love

She wasn't so sure of the police horse

At the Newseum we got to do a fake news broadcast!

If I figure out where the videos are saved, I will upload them...It was fun!

All in all, amazing trip! We rented a house that was just down the street from Union Station.  Took the subway everywhere, did a lot of walking, and had most dinners at home.  It was a great trip!  Looking forward to more!

Sweet Girl

Today our precious girl woke up at 5:30....mama not happy about that....Then, I went in there, picked her up and she snuggled right onto my shoulder.  This girl melts my heart.  I can deal with being up early one morning because of those incredible cuddles.

Besides waking up at 5:30 today (she went back to bed until 7:45......) Abby has been an absolute delight these past few (like 10-12) days...I am loving every minute of being her mommy.

Some things she does:

  • Says more and all done with sign language (that REALLY helps during breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
  • growls like a lion
  • points to her head and mouth when asked
  • starting to stand all by herself!  She will be at the couch and then will let go of the couch and pick up a toy with both hands.
  • She LOVES crawling up the stairs and will do it at any moment she sees a free "passageway" (we block off the stairs with the ottoman)
  • She is SUPER flexible..She goes everywhere with us
  • She loves to get the remote
  • She is an eating machine and always blows us away by how much she eats - favorites are peas, carrots, bananas, cheese and bread.
  • She hums along to the songs we are singing
  • she dances all the time (even when a commercial comes on - or to the ticking of the scale while mommy is watching The Biggest Loser)
  • She is starting to be more cuddly and will lay her head on mommy and daddy's shoulder
  • she LOVES drinking water when she is in the bath.  We turn on the shower and she sticks her entire face in the flowing water and drinks.
  • She says "dada" all the time, when Steve walks into the room, when she sees a picture of him, when I go to get her in the morning, when he gets in the car...She is a daddy's girl.
  • She is only the 50% for weight and height but is wearing size 24 month clothes...Something is wrong with this system.
I guess that is it for now, I just want to remember this.  Being Abby's mom is so much fun!
