Last week we did an amniocentesis. We were pretty nervous about doing this because we had not done one before. However, the results of the amnio could drastically change what this pregnancy looks like and will let us know if BK2 has "good" platelets or "bad" platelets.
If BK2 has "good platelets" we can stop all IVIG treatments and the pregnancy will continue as a regular pregnancy with no NAIT complications, I will be able to have a vaginal delivery (as long as everything else goes as planned - I know you can't plan everything...) and baby can come when she is ready.
If BK2 has "bad platelets we will continue IVIG treatments, at 20 weeks they will double the treatment, 28 weeks they will add a steroid, and I will have a c-section at 35-36 weeks.
We are really praying for the Lord's hand in this situation. We know He is taking care of our baby but would love to not have to do all these medical interventions if we don't need to. There is a 50/50 chance.
Would you pray with us?
It takes two-three weeks for the results to come back from the Blood Center of Wisconsin...We are praying for "good platelets." However, the freedom we have is that our Lord is in control.
Today I am thankful for our doctor. Before meeting her, I felt like I was the expert on NAIT and it was frustrating to have to explain everything to those in the medical profession. She is very knowledgeable on the topic, available all the time, researches for us, understands our concerns and takes care of us. Moving away from a doctor like that is going to be hard.
Praying for very good platelets!!!
