Doing IVIG #9 now. Deanna was my first nurse and she was awesome. Got me in right away, started the IV and checked everything out to make sure I was all set.
We chatted a lot about life and I was amazed at how busy she is. It made me realize that even though I feel like our life is just crazy right now, everyone's life is crazy. That is just life sometimes, especially before a holiday.
I now have 8.5 bottles to go through, so it takes a while. I need to just be sure that I bring a lot to do on these days...

IVIG #8
Well, IVIG was doubled this week.
I was hoping that it would double in concentration, not in amount...It doubled in amount. So now, I have about 8 bottles to go through instead of four.
The reasoning for this is that at 20 weeks, BK2 has more blood pumping through her body...More blood pumping means that if my blood mixes with hers, we could have an issue. So we have more IVIG in my body to neutralize my antibodies.
Despite being stuck at the hospital for almost 6 hours, it wasn't bad. They let me order dinner (delicious hospital food) and were very caring as I had a lot on my mind last Wednesday.
I now know to come to my treatments prepared....5 hours of time stuck in a bed is time I can use to get things done.

Prayer
Last week we did an amniocentesis. We were pretty nervous about doing this because we had not done one before. However, the results of the amnio could drastically change what this pregnancy looks like and will let us know if BK2 has "good" platelets or "bad" platelets.
If BK2 has "good platelets" we can stop all IVIG treatments and the pregnancy will continue as a regular pregnancy with no NAIT complications, I will be able to have a vaginal delivery (as long as everything else goes as planned - I know you can't plan everything...) and baby can come when she is ready.
If BK2 has "bad platelets we will continue IVIG treatments, at 20 weeks they will double the treatment, 28 weeks they will add a steroid, and I will have a c-section at 35-36 weeks.
We are really praying for the Lord's hand in this situation. We know He is taking care of our baby but would love to not have to do all these medical interventions if we don't need to. There is a 50/50 chance.
Would you pray with us?
It takes two-three weeks for the results to come back from the Blood Center of Wisconsin...We are praying for "good platelets." However, the freedom we have is that our Lord is in control.
Today I am thankful for our doctor. Before meeting her, I felt like I was the expert on NAIT and it was frustrating to have to explain everything to those in the medical profession. She is very knowledgeable on the topic, available all the time, researches for us, understands our concerns and takes care of us. Moving away from a doctor like that is going to be hard.

IVIG #7
...Was Great...I had Glenette again. She has everything ready, IVIG already prepped in the tube. Was out of there before 7:30...
And, as an additional update, last Thursday was the first Thursday I have woken up with NO HEADACHE! I took some meds before I went to bed on Wednesday night as directed by my doctor. Woke up and had no headache! Praise the Lord!
I've only taken one pill since then (had a slight headache last night) and I am thrilled to not be putting any more Vicodin (I had to google that to spell it) in my system that what is absolutely essential for me to function.
I love Glenette.

IVIG #6
Everything went well today. Smooth, great nurses, etc.
We even had a visitor from last week who was looking for the little giraffe again! Too bad we didn't have a 20 month old visitor today...The nurse just kept telling me how fun it was to show Abby off last week. So cute!
The doctor gave me some meds so that I get to stop the 4 day headache in its tracks...Let's hope it works! And let's hope for a weekend free of headaches!
Our little giraffe
Well, it took us till November 7th to get Abby's Halloween Costume Pictures.....
At least we did it!

Headaches turned happy....
IVIG gives me headaches, that is for real. I now feel bad for people who deal with a constant headache because I know what it feels like and it is horrible....
When we lay down in bed I ask Steve not to move a muscle because I feel everything. Poor guy... Every time he moves his foot I feel it and he says, "He has shaky leg syndrome..."
Anyway, today I woke up several times before my alarm (aka Abby) went off with a headache...You know it is bad when you wake up to the pain...I have Tylenol in my night stand.
However, I don't like to take a lot of Tylenol...because, let's face it, I think about taking a Tylenol every day...Right now I am on the every other day/three times a week rotation. I don't think that is good for me or baby, but that is what I have to do to function.
Anyway, Today I fought it...Woke up, drank an entire Gatorade (thinking maybe I was dehydrated from sleeping all night) and then treated myself to a regular coffee....
Oh man, that coffee was good and it made BK2 get all excited! And, the headache went away....Three bonus' I got to enjoy a semi warm cup of coffee, headache went away and felt little nugget #2 :)
