IVIG #5

I am home, it is 7:58....Tonight was by far the BEST IVIG I have had yet!

It started out like this...
I called at 3:30 to check if they were ready for me... A Dr. answered the phone and said, "Oh Yeah, the IVIG, they are talking about you right now, we are ready for you!"

I arrive at 3:58.  Fill out paperwork.  Have time to sit in a chair put my bag down and they call me back.

The IV was in by 4:07, IVIG was running by 4:12.  This is RECORD time!  Glenette was my nurse, and she was perfect!  When I came into the room she had the IVIG on the pole, already prepped for my arm.

I had two midwives come in and introduce themselves to me, both named Jennifer (one was Jen).  They wanted to come say hi because they always prep my IVIG and wanted to meet the person who came every week.  They were so sweet.

I got to talk to my mom for 40 minutes on the phone, she is working a lot right now so we haven't had a chance to catch up.  It was great to chat with her.

I took a short nap and then heard a knock at the door.  Paul, Midge, Steve and Abby came to visit me!  What a fun treat!  We had dinner together and then got to walk Abby around to trick or treat at the nurses stations.

She was a hit in her giraffe costume (she even met another giraffe who was 4 months old!)  They gave her candy and she even got to visit a lady in labor, the nurse stole her for a minute to go give a lady a little smile (smiles don't come often when you are in labor...)

I did forget Abby's pumpkin bucket, which I was super bummed about, but we will get lots of pictures tomorrow...

Overall, it was the perfect night.  The midwife even brought dinner for Abby: lasagna, broccoli,  a roll and even some chocolate ice cream!  I couldn't have asked for a better IVIG night.

And....I was walking out of there in 3 hours and 24 minutes....BAZINGA!

(A special thanks to Steve, Midge, Paul and Abby for making a boring night super fun!)

Pooped on the potty....

Now, before you get too excited about this...Abby didn't "ask" to poop on the potty....It just happened.

She was in the shower, I was getting ready.  Sometimes she likes to play in the shower after she is done, so I put a trickle of water on, leave the shower door open, and continue getting ready in the bathroom.

All of a sudden, I turn around and see her playing with a little brown ball.

"Abby, what is that...?" As I am finishing the sentence, I see three other little brown balls on the floor of the shower....

"Ahhhh!!!!"

In an attempt to clean up, I grab toilet paper (i.e. a terrible way to pick up poop from a WET shower floor) to pick them up and put them in the toilet, as I am doing this, more brown balls are falling....

I quickly grab Abby and hold her wet, wiggly body over the toilet...As you can imagine, all poop is done at this point.

I put her down again on the floor....To see her face turn red again.

Yikes!  Hold her over the toilet again, huge poop, right in the toilet!  Nice work Abby!

So, she pooped on the potty....She wasn't thrilled about the idea, and neither was I.

Guess what I did during nap time? Disinfected the bathroom....

Our God is big.

It's kind of a heavy day today.  I know the Lord is with me and being in his presence all day is a beautiful thing.  I mean, for reals, I was listening to a Kid's Worship Song on Pandora and it was speaking to my heart.  The Lord is taking care of our house today for sure.

A move is pending for our family - a move with a almost two year old, a possible deployment for a year, and a new baby on the way who is already requiring a lot of our time to keep her healthy.  This move is supposed to happen in 63 days.  However, we don't know where yet.  I guess that is the life of being in the Air Force.  It's overwhelming, emotional, and scary.  However, I know the Lord is with us because I feel a crazy peace. I have full confidence that the one who created the earth, skies, and individual plants knows where we are going to go.  He is preparing our hearts for where he is leading us and my prayer is that I can continue to trust in him even when I am overly emotional and scared.  My big prayer is that wherever we move we can embrace it, we have a job here on earth, and I want to live that out.

This week I have had three friends who have always been there to remind me that the Lord is in control and they offer encouragement for those days when I doubt.

One sent me a text this morning, knowing nothing of our situation, and said she felt led to pray for us...SHE is in tune with the Lord...So in tune with the Lord.

Another sent me this, 1 Thes. 5:16-18
Rejoice always.
Pray without ceasing
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Bam....We are so thankful for where we are right now and have LOVED EVERY MINUTE of being in this house, being in A2, and most importantly being close to family.  The blessings of where we are right now blows our minds...blows our minds....
This friend seeks the word and encourages me with it.

Another friend has been there all the time, but especially the scary moments.  The ones where I send a text, and she calls. She knows I don't want to talk, but knows I need to.  She listens. She encourages and I know she cries with me too.  It surprises me we aren't sisters because she knows how my mind works, what I think (sometimes before I do) and what I need (even when I don't).  She is the kind of friend I pray everyone finds.

The Lord is taking care of us and has us in his hands. We have waited a long time to figure out what his plan is but really, time is not an issue for Him.  He does what He wants and He has a plan...And guess, what?  The timing of it isn't the same as mine...Go figure God.
Thank you for letting me trust in you.
Thank you for taking this burden.
Thank you for friends that encourage.
Thank you for reminding me that you are faithful.
Thank you for reminding me that your plans are bigger than mine.
And thank you for reminding me that we can be used wherever you lead us.

Please join me in prayer these next few weeks:
We need prayer that the Lord prepares our hearts for where He will move us.
We need prayer that our hearts are calmed in the midst of the decisions that need to be made, things that need to get done, etc.

Really, we know that the Lord has our future and he will work out all the details....Our hearts just need to be ready for what He has....

IVIG #4

Getting "infused" right now.  It is going great!

It started off with me calling at 3:30 to make sure they are OK with taking another patient (I do the infusion at Labor and Delivery and if there are a lot of deliveries, I am not priority...the babies are :))  I called, they said, "Yes, we are ready and waiting for you!"

I have Lisa as a nurse.  This is the first time I have had someone who has done the infusion before (she was my week 2 nurse).  The head RN even came in and got the directions on how to do the infusion..She said, "I am here every week when you come, but don't know how to do it myself."  She asked a lot about why I need to do IVIG and the history with Abby.  It is always fun for me to share this story with medical staff because they are amazed at how well Abby is doing :)

When I got here the IVIG was already in the room, they were super prepared, and we started the infusion right away.  I am on bottle #4 now and it is before 7:00.  Hopefully I will be heading home soon!

I brought the nurses cookies today, I wanted to leave them on the bed when I left, but Lisa is leaving soon, so I will hand them off to her before I go, she can get a little "oatmeal raisin cookie sugar rush" before she goes.

I really can't begin to tell you how great they are up here at Labor and Delivery at St. Joes.  I wish I could deliver BK2 here!

Community Group Pumpkin Carving Contest!

We had a pumpkin carving contest with our small group!  It was so fun!  We are not huge pumpkin carving fans but it was so fun to do with others!

Leo

Brett and Liam

Meibeyers planning out their Michigan "M"

Faith

Abby even got into it...she pointed out all the facial features.

The group

Drum roll please....The winner was the one on the left...I mean, how could it not win? They carved a cat!

We even had ballots to make it official.

What a fun night!  We were missing a few people, but I loved every minute of the night!  It was a great way to end a busy day!

The first pumpkin

A few weeks ago we carved a pumpkin at Grandma and Grandpas house.  Abby liked sorting out the seeds and the guts..

The best part was playing with the seeds that were all clean!

Family Photos

We got family photos taken a few weeks ago and it was so fun!  We loved our photographer and hope to use her again!
